Jack finds school difficult, especially when it comes to reading—he just can’t seem to keep up with the others. During a visit to the animal shelter with his sister, he meets a shy little puppy named Daisy. Sitting beside her, Jack begins to practise his reading, and a quiet bond forms between them.
As Daisy slowly gains confidence, Jack feels proud—and hopeful that she’s ready for a new home. But when another family shows interest in adopting her, Jack begins to worry he’s about to lose his very first real friend.
