My Swordhand is Singing

by Marcus Sedgwick

In the grip of a harsh winter, Tomas and his son Peter arrive in the remote village of Chust. The locals are cold and unwelcoming, but the two settle there as woodcutters. Still, Peter is haunted by questions. Why has his father surrounded their hut with a fast-running stream? What secrets lie inside the long, battered box Tomas never lets out of his sight?

Everything changes when a band of gypsies arrives, bringing music, colour—and danger. Peter is captivated by the enchanting Sofia and drawn into her world. But the travellers carry a deadly purpose: they are Vampire Slayers, and Chust is no ordinary village. Here, the dead do not rest… and vengeance is just beneath the surface.
