A little boy is puzzled—why does Peregrine Ffrogg at school keep picking on him? He begins to wonder: Is it because he misses his mum? Still sucks his thumb? Smells like a fish? Can’t ride a bike? As he asks himself these questions, he starts to understand more—not just about himself, but about Peregrine, too. In the end, he realises that Peregrine may be unhappy… and perhaps even a little jealous.
