A Story Like the Wind

by Gill Lewis

Out at sea, a boat carries a handful of refugees, huddled together on their uncertain journey toward safety. As waves rise and fall around them, they begin to share their stories—fragments of the lives they’ve left behind and the hopes they carry forward.

Among them is a boy named Rami, who holds tightly to his violin. As the others speak, he tells a tale of his own: of how the violin came to be, and of a stallion so swift it seemed born of wind and legend. His story threads through the group’s memories, binding them together in a quiet moment of unity—a reminder that even in flight and fear, music and imagination still offer light, and something to hold on to.
