Freedom

by Catherine Johnson

Nathaniel doesn’t want to leave Jamaica — not his home, not his mother and sister, and certainly not for England with the master’s family.

But his mother’s words echo in his mind: “Set foot on English soil, and you’re free.”

Now, with a glimmer of hope and a heart full of determination, Nathaniel dares to dream. Could this journey be his chance to change everything — and one day, bring freedom to those he left behind?
