Changes

by Anthony Browne

At a quarter past ten on Thursday morning, Joseph Kaye notices something strange—the kettle looks… different. And it’s only the beginning.

Throughout the day, ordinary objects around Joseph begin to change in the most unexpected ways: the washbasin sprouts feet, the armchair turns into a gorilla, and his bike wheel becomes an apple.

His dad said everything would change—but what did he mean? As Joseph waits for his parents to return with his new baby sister, his shifting world reflects the emotions of a boy preparing for a life-changing moment.
