Susan wants to do something to make her mum feel happier about life in World War II but finding a banana is not going to be easy. Rationing means that Susan will have to hunt high and low and even sneak out of school to do so. With her dad away fighting and her mum exhausted from work, Susan is determined to cheer her mum up.
