Cinderella of the Nile

by Beverley Naidoo

Rhodopis, a Greek girl taken to Egypt as a slave, finds comfort in friendship—with animals and the storyteller Aesop. When her master gifts her rose-red slippers, jealousy brews among the other servants. But when a falcon steals one of her shoes, it sets off a chain of events that leads her all the way to the King of Egypt.
