Frequently Asked Questions
What information do I need to provide when signing up for a free account?
Just your name, email address and whether you are using the account as a teacher or parent. Or select ‘other’ if neither of these apply to you.
What access will I get with a free account?
You will be able to search for 3 books each month. However, you won’t have full access to the site as a user of a free account. Certain features such as extra detail for themes of books and being able to view the popularity of books won’t be available to you.
How much is it to subscribe to Spy Readers?
£2.99 a month for individual accounts or £120.00 for an annual school subscription. A school subscription provides access for up to 14 accounts on the Spy Readers site.
How do I cancel my individual subscription?
We would be very sad to see you go! If you want to cancel your subscription, you can cancel at anytime by simply logging into your account, clicking on the menu and selecting ‘My Subscription’. You will then be able to select ‘Cancel my Subscription’. The last payment of £2.99 will be taken on the …… of the month.
How do I cancel my school subscription?
Schools pay a yearly fee of £120.00. We will always notify a school at least 40 days before their renewal date. At this point you can inform us if you don’t want to renew. If we haven’t been instructed to cancel your membership then it will rollover into the next year.
Why don’t you have a particular book that I’m looking for on the Spy Readers’ site?
This could be for a number of reasons.
- We upload a huge number of books to our site each month but we always want to make sure that the themes we state are accurate. There is a process we follow to ensure this is the case and so getting new books on the Spy Readers site can take a little time.
- We always make sure that we have the publisher’s permission before we upload any books onto the Spy Readers website, so we are also reliant on having been granted permission. This permission can sometimes take a couple of weeks as permission departments are extremely busy.
- We prioritise books that have been requested or that we know to be particularly popular. We have to do this because of the thousands of new children’s books released each year.
Can I request a book/s to be included on the Spy Readers website?
Absolutely! Fill out the contact form below with your request and we’ll be in touch.
I am an author and would like my book included on the Spy Readers’ website. Is this possible?
We love hearing from authors and some of our new favourite books have come from authors reaching out to us directly. Please email office@spyreaders.co.uk and put ‘Author Request’ in the subject line of your email.
Why do you provide suggested ages for books?
Our suggested ages are included to act as a helpful guide, as we believe that every parent will have a different view on what they believe is right for their child to read.
These age suggestions are in no way meant to limit a child’s reading experience but, from parent and teacher feedback, we felt it was helpful to provide a suggested age as a guide and starting place when searching for new books.
Equally, our age suggestions may not be right for all, which is why we advise parents, carers and teachers to use our suggested ages, alongside the themes listed, to inform their decisions.
